RAISING A NEW GENERATION OF MISSIONAL LEADERS

WHAT IS THE
TIMOTHY INITIATIVE

The TIMOTHY INITIATIVE is a select group of college juniors and seniors from campuses across Alabama who have demonstrated a deep desire to explore what it means to be a missional leader for the Gospel and to spend their final college years in a unique experience designed to equip them for a lifetime of mission and ministry in any area of our world and culture.
These are ideally rising college juniors, demonstrating a deep faith in Jesus Christ, actively involved in a local Alabama Baptist church and an intense desire to grow in their understanding and commitment to living a life devoted to fulfilling the Great Commission.
In short, TIMOTHY INITIATIVE (Tl) is for students who are passionate about Jesus and want to be missional leaders wherever God leads them.

Deadline to apply is May 15.

TIMOTHY

AND WALKING ALONGSIDE THEM AS PAUL DID WITH TIMOTHY.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Students apply to be a part of TIMOTHY INITIATIVE and spend their junior and senior year in a mentor/discipleship relationship with a mentor selected for them. If the student is already a part of a discipleship relationship, we will work to include that mentor in the Tl. During the year, students and mentors may meet virtually or in person with other students/mentors for collective overnight retreats or mission trip experiences.

Each week, students can plan on 2 to 4 hours of time needed to be fully engaged in the work of Tl. Overnight retreats and mission trips would be in addition to the weekly time commitment.
During the summer between the student's junior and senior year they will be encouraged to serve in Baptist ministry and mission settings. If a student's mission experience requires a student to raise funds to serve, Tl grants will be available to help with a portion of the cost of that service.

After graduation, students may receive up to $5,000 for two years of mission engagement after college-either through IMB (Journeyman/international) or NAMB (Go2/North America).
Application Timeline: March 1 - May 15

Who can Apply?

Ideally, Tl students are either a member of an Alabama Baptist church or a Baptist Campus Ministry (BCM) on their local campus. They must be a rising college-level junior attending an Alabama college or university in order to apply for TIMOTHY INITIATIVE.

The goal would be that you complete the two-year discipleship process of Tl over the course of your junior and senior years.

What is the Impact

TIMOTHY INITIATIVE would help provide well-discipled, well-trained Kingdom workers who are equipped and qualified to provide missional leadership in Alabama Baptist churches AND beyond our state to unreached cities and nations around the world.
